It’s been almost a year since the first video game company to open an office in New York City, and its been a long wait.
The company, called Boom Boom Games, is one of the biggest in the country, with more than 4,000 employees across all of its business divisions.
But now that the company is poised to open its second New York office in late 2018, the excitement is palpable.
In fact, the company’s head of business development, Mike Caspi, told Bloomberg the company already has received about $300 million from investors who have pledged to put $100 million into the New York outpost.
“That’s the biggest round that we’ve received,” he said.
Boom Boom CEO Michael Molloy is not only looking to build an empire that is going to rival any other, but he’s also hoping to tap into the excitement that the virtual reality craze is bringing to the world.
Mollow said he and his team have been preparing for the boom by designing a virtual reality game that takes advantage of the VR headset.
“I think we have an idea of what people are looking for in VR, so that’s something that we want to be able to do,” Mollo told Bloomberg.
“The fact that it’s a very popular video game and has a lot of buzz in the industry, that makes us excited to be working on this product.”
The new office in Manhattan will be located at 212 Broadway, which is part of a larger building that includes an apartment complex.
The development team has already begun laying out plans for the building, which includes office space and retail space.
The first phase of the project will include the creation of a 360-degree, immersive experience that is designed to be used by both individuals and families, with the ability to watch the game on a large screen or on a small tablet.
That first phase will also include a hotel room, a fitness center, and a virtual theater where people can watch a virtual version of the film The Last Jedi.
Mollsi said the company has been looking to expand beyond its New York hub, which has had a staff of around 500.
“We are building a brand new headquarters in the U-verse neighborhood, which will be more like an urban center, so there will be a lot more people in it,” he told Bloomberg in an interview.
“There are a lot people coming from other cities to come work here, and we want everyone to be part of that.”
Boom Boom is a wholly owned subsidiary of the gaming company, Activision Blizzard.
Molly said the New Jersey office will be the first in the nation to be opened by the same people that will operate it in New Jersey.
“New Jersey is one state that we haven’t seen before, but that’s kind of how we want it to work,” she said.
“If we get the New Yorkers and the New Jerseys on board, that will be really, really cool.”
The company also plans to build a larger office in a nearby town, but Molloo said it was not clear when that would happen.
“It’s a pretty early stage,” he added.
“But it will be very exciting to open this office in Brooklyn.”
