2:54 The world’s airlines are in the midst of a massive redesign effort, with the airlines in Australia and China set to unveil new, more efficient and less costly routes this year.
The changes are set to hit airports across the globe, with Singapore to the forefront of the plan, as it will use the same route map used by most international airlines.
“I think it’s going to be the biggest change in the industry,” says Andrew Lomnicki, senior vice president of travel at PricewaterhouseCoopers, who is leading the overhaul of the world market.
“We’re in a transition to a world that is a lot more efficient.
That’s a big shift in the world.”
Lomnicky says the airport overhaul plan is a significant change to the industry’s way of thinking, but also a major shift in how we do business.
“It will allow airlines to compete in a way they have never been able to before, in terms of offering a better package of value,” he says.
Airlines are already using a range of new technologies to improve efficiency, including more efficient cargo handling and changing routes to allow more people on board to help reduce costs.
The new routes are likely to be rolled out in 2018 and 2019, when the major airports are expected to be fully open to the public.
In the meantime, airlines will be able to use existing routes as well as those designed specifically for their customers.
The new routes will also make travel faster and more efficient, allowing for more frequent and cost-effective flights, says Lomniki.
More flights are planned for the new routes, but Lommann says there’s no rush to start flying the new ones.
“You can start flying these routes, and then you will see how the network evolves over time,” he said.
Llomnickie says the new airport redesigns will help airlines get through the busy summer season and beyond, but there will be some adjustments.
“There will be more delays and less capacity, so airlines will have to look for ways to manage those,” he added.
New timetables have been published to help airlines plan ahead for their summer season, which is expected to run from July to November.
LomNicki says these timetables will help them manage the time they will need to make sure their passengers are safe.
Another important change is the introduction of a new “dynamic” scheduling system, which will allow the airline to change routes and times at will.
The system is designed to make it easier for airlines to adjust flights if demand changes, and to offer flexibility when they need it.
It will also allow airlines the ability to adapt routes, schedules and fares as the season changes.
The new airports will also see a shift to using smaller aircraft, which can carry more people and be easier to handle in the air.
“With the size of the aircraft, we can take on more passengers, and we can operate in a more efficient manner,” Lomnecki said.
“And that’s what we’re going to see this year.”
“We will be operating in a much more efficient way.”
